PHILIPPINES: Shy

The body language of girls in the province is at innocence at once endearing and alarming. Girls their age are living on the Olongapo streets, helping to earn money for their family’s survival by selling chewing gum and cigarettes. The children often first sell their sexual labor when a serviceman asks and they discover they can earn more money in this line of work. Only about 10% of the street children have mothers who work in the bars.
